Grant program for product patents from the Bodossaki Foundation

14.09.2018

The Bodossaki Foundation announces a new grant programme for the registration of intellectual property rights and patents for innovative research products and results carried out by researchers and research teams of Greek research centres and universities. These results can be exploited commercially, through the creation of new businesses or their exploitation by existing businesses.

The programme, together with the Bodossaki Foundation, is funded by the following Public Benefit Foundations John S. Latsis, A.G. Leventis and Onassis.

The programme is addressed to Greek researchers conducting research in Greek Higher Education Institutions (Universities and TEI) and public Research Centres. Interested candidates are invited to fill in and submit an application form, a model of which has been posted on the Bodossaki Foundation’s website together with the relevant notice.

The aim of the programme is to stimulate the Greek economy through the creation, promotion and support of innovative businesses based on the products and results of quality innovative research carried out in the Universities and public research centres of Greece. More broadly, the programme aims to promote Greece’s research and business sector as a sector that can attract investment and encourage Greek researchers to stay and create in Greece.

Please note that the scientific fields of research are not subject to any restrictions. The subject matter of the research must concern (a) advanced technology for which there is no strong competition from abroad, or (b) practical applications of basic research (translation research) with an already emerging product or service that can be protected, for which there is no strong competition from abroad.

A precondition for participation in the programme is that the rights will be registered in Greek Higher Education Institutions (Universities and TEIs), public Research Centres and Greek researchers conducting research in them, and that, in case of assignment of the commercial exploitation of the rights to third parties, the Greek HEIs and public Research Centres will be guaranteed the participation of these institutions in the future profits from their commercial exploitation by a percentage determined in the application for participation in the programme, with a minimum limit of 5%.
